Study Abroad Opportunities for Students

Do you want to see more of the world? Do you want to be immersed in different cultures? Are you interested in study abroad opportunities?

One of SNU’s most frequented study abroad partnerships is through IGE (Institute for Global Education). IGE takes students to the heart of Vienna in the beautiful country of Austria. Students will study at the University of Vienna, live in dorms with students from various countries, have weekly (paid for) meals with the other students in the program and have the ability to travel all throughout Europe!

Eileen Ruger, SNU’s director of Center for Global Engagement and study abroad coordinator, has set up a time for students who are interested in studying abroad to learn more about the IGE program. Dr. Kevin Archer, founder and director of the IGE program, will be coming to speak during this time and answer any questions.

Dr. Ruger informed that, “Dr. Kevin Archer will be here the 27 and the 28. He will be speaking in some classes [and will also] be holding an information meeting about IGE on the 27 at 6:30 p.m. in classroom 104 of the Religion building. He is also available for one-on-one meetings on Tuesday morning.”

Regarding his upcoming visit, Dr. Archer said, “We are building our Fall 2017 cohort and are looking for great students with an interest in a unique study abroad experience in one of the world’s great cities. I’d love to meet with as many SNU students as possible who are interested in exploring their world at a deeper level. Our current program focuses on modern European history, art and culture. Our students also have a rare opportunity to both study and engage the refugee crisis in Europe through both coursework and service learning at a Christian refugee service center.”

As an alumni of the program, I couldn’t recommend IGE Vienna more. It was an incredible four-month adventure that allowed me to experience and see more things than I ever thought I would in my lifetime.

You can set up a time to meet with Dr. Kevin Archer by emailing him at kevin@igeabroad.com, or contact Dr. Eileen Ruger for application information at eruger@mail.snu.edu. Explore more details at the IGE website.
