Baseball Field Renovations

Baseball Field Renovations

With the spring baseball season right around the corner, what better way to start the season then with major improvements to the home baseball field? The baseball field is under construction until Dec. 20 and has many exciting renovations to highlight.

The first major improvement is the double layer press box. The press box towers over the field and will give baseball scouts and broadcasters a great view of the field. The press box also has a beautiful light and dark brown brick structure with a crimson red roof.

The baseball field also will be receiving beautiful, state-of-the-art ballpark seating. The new seats wrap around the backstop of the field and give a complete new feel for the fans coming to the game. The field has also been touched up with professional laser leveling technology, which means the infield dirt will now be completely level down to the inch. The field also has a beautiful jumbo cut out of the letters “SNU” behind the right field fence.

SNU hopes the new improvements will boost attendance at the home games and bring more student athletes to the program. The improvements help give the team a division II feel that schools should have in the conference. SNU hopes to set the standard for how all baseball fields should be treated.

Each player on the team is given a specific job to help keep the field looking spiffy. The coaches even take the time to make sure blades are sharp on the mower to keep a clean cut on the field as well.

We caught up with one of the players on the team, Brady VanZant, to ask him what he thought about the improvement to the field, and what it would do for the team.

“I feel like I was able to come to SNU at the perfect time, said VanZant. “The improvements to the field are an amazing blessing that couldn’t be from anyone but God.”

VanZant went on to say that he is proud to be a part of this transition.

“The baseball team is working harder than ever to get into top shape for the season, and playing on a field we can take pride in is exactly the kind of pride the team needs to feel confident playing on other fields. It’s exciting to see the program advance and being a part of the team as they do so.”

The school is also looking at improving the dugouts and possibly an extended indoor facility in the future.
