The Divine Matchmaker Book Review

The Divine Matchmaker Book Review

Entering into a relationship can be nerve racking at times. How do you know if you should pursue someone? How do you guard your feelings? Or do you just need to know how to hear God’s voice more clearly? The book The Divine Matchmaker is a great read to help us explore these topics and hopefully become wiser about it.

The book begins with how to find freedom and healing from past relationships and how you can make smarter decisions in the future. One of those is to become friends with the opposite sex first. You might be asking yourself, “what does that even mean?” Well, here is a glimpse of that section. The reason they address that this is important is so you can begin to ask yourself questions such as, what are their visions or values? What is important to them? How are they growing spiritually?

Although some people might think you are crazy for setting boundaries in your relationship, the authors agree that while setting these boundaries can be hard, you are protecting your heart and the other person’s heart and feelings as well. Tips and examples to help you begin those conversations are addressed in the book.

It also has chapters on singleness. The book stresses how important our “seasons of singleness” can be. The book mentions that in our time of singleness we should look at it as growing in our relationship with God. Rather than chasing after crushes, pointless daydreams or whatever the case may be, the book has steps on how we can chase after the person God wants us to be.

There is an even a whole section in the book dedicated to those we are already engaged or married. These sections talk about how to honor one another, how to put God first, how to get through the tough times, etc.

One of my favorite parts of the book is the last section. It focuses on how to hear God’s voice and how speaking and listening to God is one of the most enjoyable things we will ever do in life. Amazing. I highly recommend it for everyone.
