The movie theaters are filled with many great watching options right now. With movies like Avatar: The Way of Water, A Man Called Otto, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish still available to watch on the big screen, it can be hard to pick just one worth watching. This past weekend, another movie was released that adds to this list of great ones–and that is Creed III. If you have watched either of the previous two Creed movies, you know how great this series is. In terms of storyline, acting, and production, the movie series has been a masterpiece up to this point.
The Creed series focuses on the character of Adonis Creed, the son of the late boxer Apollo Creed, who seeks out the help of Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone) to train him in the art of boxing. The film stars Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed, and also features Tessa Thompson and others in supporting roles. Creed was well-received by critics and audiences alike, and grossed over $173 million worldwide. It was followed by a sequel, Creed II, in 2018, and now a third that was released on March 3rd, 2023.
Despite Creed III just releasing, many students from the school have already watched it. These students have given the film much praise, even with the extremely high expectation it faced. Connor Rice, a senior at SNU, watched the film on opening night. When asked about his expectations for the movie, Rice said, “I loved both of the first two movies, but I know that movies can start to get a little corny as they continue to make more of them so my expectations actually weren’t too high, to be honest.” Despite this, Rice mentions that the movie did, however, exceed his expectations. He even goes on to say, “The storyline of this one was really great and different from previous ones, which is a problem that some movie series seem to run into.”
When asked about this movie in comparison to the two before it, Brandon Tedder, a junior at the school, also gave the movie its flowers. “I really liked the first two movies. They were honestly some of my favorite sports movies ever and this one was just as good, if not better than them,” said Tedder.
Whether you can’t wait and decide to watch the movie in theaters or wait until it’s available on a streaming platform, Creed III is a must-watch. It focuses on the toughness of being a boxer specifically, but the film’s message can also apply to the hardships that anyone may face in life. It instills a sense of pride, hopefulness, and determination into its audience, and will make sure its viewer is not let down.
