Whether you’re a freshman or senior at SNU, there is no doubt that you’ve set foot in the building of Admissions. Our admissions team is at the forefront of SNU, ensuring that everyone receives a welcoming experience when setting foot on campus. Steve Betts, the Vice President of Enrollment and Student Success shares, “The role of the Admissions Office within SNU is to help recruit new students. We work with families, churches, schools, and other organizations to help promote SNU and provide information to students who are interested in attending.”
Our Admissions team wouldn’t be complete without our recruiters and event coordinators. These dedicated individuals are in charge of going to college fairs, meeting with students during visits, and most importantly, helping prospective students throughout the admissions process. Adrian Vera, one of our recruiters, mentions, “I like to paint a picture of what SNU will be; I want to give students an experience that will make them feel like they’re already here.”
SNU Admissions also includes Presidential Leadership Scholars, a fantastic leadership group that gets the opportunity to become acquainted with our President Dr. Keith Newman, and serve as ambassadors around SNU. Our Campus Visit Coordinator, Jennifer Miller, who intentionally makes sure visits for prospective students run smoothly, additionally helps oversee the PLS program. She voices, “They are high-achieving leaders that I love; they’re my people. I feel like I am their momma!” Presidential Leadership Scholars also help out in Admissions and other offices throughout the school, building connections with students and faculty alike. Miller shares that one of her favorite parts of her job is building relationships with student workers, saying, “I love knowing who they are, what they are going through, and finding out how I can pray for them and support them.” Follow this link for more information on the President Leadership Scholars.
Of course, Admissions has its busy days, with students and parents needing our team’s help. Vera adds, “There is always a lot to do! We balance emails and text messages, campus visits, working with students, going around to college fairs, and sharing what SNU offers. We are busy but we love it!”
