They say you can tell a lot about someone by the clothes they wear. Well, I say you can tell a lot about a student from the stickers on their laptop. Walking into the library or coffee shop you can see them decorating the back of almost every computer. There are stickers for clubs, for sports teams, for places traveled and ones that just show off an aspect of the owner’s personality.
This is Alexis Ramos’ laptop. She has a few stickers that show some of her favorite places like Estes Park Colorado and Hawaii. She also reps her hometown of Dallas/Fort Worth. The sassiness of the remaining stickers speaks to her personality, which is independent and feisty. The same statement that applies to her home state of Texas applies to her; don’t mess with Alexis.
These eclectic stickers belong to Jessika Frederick. She is an avid coffee drinker, as shown by the different coffee shop stickers. Her collection is a little bit different than any of the others I photographed. The cluster of the smaller raised stickers is from her RA. They are rewards for doing bathroom chores and keeping her space clean. If you looked at this picture and thought to yourself that the owner looks like the artsy type, with the Van Gogh reference, then you would be correct. Jessika is a graphic design major.
Brayden Lehew is most certainly a sooner fan. One would gather that he also has a lot of pride for SNU by the adornments on his laptop. He, like many SNU students, enjoys going to Insomnia Cookies to reward himself for a long night of studying. The silhouette of the man carrying a bindle (the bag on the end of the stick) is actually the logo for a Christian band called Sidewalk Prophets, a favorite of Brayden’s.
There are pop culture references galore on the back of Noah Terry’s laptop. There are stickers for Pulp Fiction, Harry Potter, the Office, and my personal favorite Mamma Mia. The Fort Smith Coffee Co. sticker that was acquired on a mission trip and the humorous statement next to Jesus allude to the fact that Noah is a ministry major. The circular sticker with Dr. Samples’ smiling face on it is a sticker you will see on many ministry majors’ laptops. It is a reminder to turn in their intern report.
Some laptops aren’t covered completely, but they still tell a story. For Kayla Thomas (KT), all she wanted to give to the world through her stickers was her love for Texas and Jesus. KT was born and raised in Texas, and until recently lived there her whole life. The large G sticker is from a “famous” coffee shop in New Braunfels, according to her, and the “Y’all Need Jesus” sticker is a comedic find from a young adult Christian conference she attended.
