Meet Recka, one of SNU’s cafeteria dining workers who greets everyone with a smile.
Recka has been an employee of SNU Dining for a little over nine months. She found Southern Nazarene University while searching for a job on Indeed.com and has been working here ever since!
Recka works four days a week, from 11 am-8 pm, and is one of the cashiers for Sodexo dining. She enjoys swiping students and staff and interacting with them
as they walk in. Recka’s favorite part of her job is getting to know the students at SNU. “I love how friendly you all are–how you engage with your fellow students and staff here.”
Before she worked in the cafeteria, Recka used to work downstairs in Chick-fil-A. She switched to the cafeteria a few months ago because of sciatica in her back, which is similar to a pinched nerve, and thought it would be easier not to have to stand all day while at work.
One of Recka’s favorite moments working at SNU was the grand opening of Chick-fil-A back in August of 2023. “Opening up was an experience. There were so many of you all.”
In her free time, Recka likes to spend time with her seven-year-old son, coloring with him, hanging out at the playground, or watching movies together.
If you have not met Recka, you are missing out on a wonderful person! Next time you decide to go eat at the cafeteria, make sure to keep a lookout for her. She is always excited to get to know someone new and greet you with a smile.
