The Crimson Storm 2025 Baseball Season Has Begun

The Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm baseball team kicked off its 2025 season with a strong performance at Feland Field, finishing the opening weekend with a 3-1 record. The team showcased resilience and offensive firepower, securing wins against New Mexico Highlands and Newman. The offense came alive in key moments, with standout performances from Jaxon

Gless, Antonio Sabala, Carson Kinnaird, and Weston Hicks leading the charge. A dramatic comeback in their final home game of the weekend highlighted the team’s determination, as they overturned an 8-2 deficit to secure an 11-8 victory.

Following their impressive start, SNU hit the road for a four-game series against Southwest Baptist, facing a tougher challenge. The Bearcats controlled the first two games, shutting out the Storm in game 5 and capitalizing on early leads to take Game 6. Despite these setbacks, SNU found a spark in Game 7 with a late-inning comeback, fueled by clutch hits from Ryan Talley and Weston Hicks to secure a 4-3 victory. However, the series ended in a 6-1 loss in Game 8, with the Bearcats’ early offensive surge proving too much to overcome.

With a non-conference play behind them, the Crimson Storm now shifts its focus to conference competition. They are opening the GAC series against Arkansas-Monticello, originally set for February 14-15th but rescheduled to February 16-17th due to weather. The team will return to their home field on February 21st for a matchup against Southern Arkansas where they hope to build momentum.

Looking ahead, the players remain confident in their team chemistry and preparation. Senior Trey Orman emphasizes the team’s culture, stating, “As a team, we strive to be purposefully different, refining character, and creating culture. Our goal is to make an impact in the GAC and DII baseball.” Senior Parker Presley echoes this sentiment, noting, “The difference this year compared to last is that this team has really come together. We’re all pulling on the same rope, with the same goals to win and change the narrative of SNU Baseball.”

Due to weather conditions, the Crimson Storm is set to face Arkansas-Monticello on February 16-17th. The team is eager to test themselves against strong competition. Senior Will Deshotels highlights the significance of their next opponent: “I’m looking forward to this series against Monticello. They won the conference last year, and it will be a great test to start conference play.” As the season unfolds, the Crimson Storm hopes to continue their early success and establish themselves as a force in the GAC. The team will return home for its conference home opener against Southern Arkansas on Friday, February 21st. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they embark on what promises to be an exciting season.
