As the 2025-2026 basketball season begins, Southern Nazarene University celebrates the leadership of its senior returners, Baron Bracy and Tracy Godfrey. Their decision to come back for one more season goes beyond basketball–it’s about legacy, leadership, gratitude, and the family that was built within a program that has helped shape both their careers.
Bracy pointed to the bonds he has formed during his time at SNU. “I just wanted to have a sense of community ever since I came here last year,” he conveyed. “Everybody’s been close-knit since day one. And I just wanted to keep my relationships real tight.”
Godfrey echoed his teammate, highlighting the family-like atmosphere that keeps him motivated. “I feel like we built a family here,” he explained. “And I just wanted to keep finishing off the way I did last year.”
That sense of community has grown into leadership responsibility, as both players now embrace their role as seniors. For Bracy, that means guiding his teammates on and off the floor. “I feel like my role as a senior on the team is just being the leader and trying to get everybody in the right spots. Being a positive influence on the team and leading by example so my teammates can follow,” he said.
Godfrey described a similar role: “Being the leader for all the new guys, teaching them the ropes, just guiding them and getting them where they need to be.”
Their words reflect the heart of SNU basketball–a program built on trust, accountability, and lasting relationships. For both players, basketball has been about more than wins and losses; it has been about growth, faith, and the people around them.
The SNU community is grateful for their dedication. Their decision to return ensures that the Crimson Storm will benefit not only from their talent but also from their leadership and examples on and off the court.
To Bracy and Godfrey: thank you for your commitment to this program, for your investment in your teammates, and for reminding us all what it means to be part of a true family.
