SNU Fashion: A Conversation with Hannah Elrod & Sarah Graves

SNU Fashion: A Conversation with Hannah Elrod & Sarah Graves

Who says college is just about books and labs? At Southern Nazarene University, two students prove that fashion can be an education in itself. Meet Hannah Elrod and Sarah Graves, whose styles are as unique as their personalities. From effortlessly chic everyday looks to statement pieces that turn heads, these two have mastered the art of expressing themselves through clothing. Step inside their closets as we explore their personal styles, current favorite trends, and how they are making SNU a more fashionable place–one outfit at a time.

For Graves, style is all about fun and confidence. She gravitates towards anything pink, bright, and cheerful, while keeping her wardrobe affordable by shopping at Walmart, Target, and affordable online boutiques. As a member of the SALT Sports & Recreation team, she is a huge fan of cute athleisure–think styling tennis dresses and workout sets. For her, fashion is motivation: “If I have a cute outfit on, I am more likely to feel motivated and ready for the day. Look cute, do cute,” she expressed.

Graves especially enjoys dressing up for Howdy Homecoming, when she gets to show off her favorite cowgirl boots. Her top piece of advice? Follow the rule of seven: “Whatever you wear has to add up to a total of seven points. You get a point for each item you are wearing, unless it is a statement piece like a fancy belt or crazy patterned shirt.” She believes this trick can help elevate even the simplest everyday look.

When Elrod needs inspiration, she turns to Pinterest and TikTok to keep her wardrobe fresh. She primarily shops from Amazon, Aerie, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls, and she is currently loving the trend of pairing draped scarves with dresses.. Elrod especially enjoys dressing up for Southern Supper and Heartpal, two of SNU’s most anticipated events. Her words of advice are refreshingly simple: “Shop for you and do not just buy things because they are trending. If you like it, buy it.”

Together, Elrod and Graves showcase how personal style can be a vibrant form of self-expression at SNU. Their flair for bright colors, budget-friendly finds, and trend-savvy choices proves that fashion is not about following every fad–it is about confidence and individuality. Through their looks, they encourage their peers to embrace clothing as a way of celebrating identity, reminding us that at SNU, style is an education in itself.
