Drip on Campus: Style, Confidence, and Creativity at SNU

At Southern Nazarene University, fashion isn’t just about what you wear–it’s about how you express yourself. For freshmen Aiden Teran “AT,” Kelvin Young “Kevo,” and Brenden Simmons “BWAY,” drip is a lifestyle, confidence boost, and creative outlet. Each brings their own unique take on what it means to have the best drip on campus.

Teran, an accounting major from Houston, describes his style as clean, bold, and creative. He says his inspiration comes from creators like Poppy Q and Tyler, the Creator, blending trendy and experimental looks that sta[]nd out in a crowd. “Drip is my lifestyle,” Aiden explained. “Every time I wake up, I think about dressing–clothes, shoes, statement pieces. It’s my second happiness in life.”

For Young, a sports management major from Waco, style is an art form. “I’d describe my outfits as a beautiful work of art–fly and fashionable,” he stated. Kevo draws inspiration from artists like Lil Yachty, Cash Kay, and Virgil. His confidence stems from always looking his best, regardless of the occasion. “Even on my off days, I’m still that guy,” he expressed with a grin.

Simmons, an exercise science major from Fordyce, Arkansas, keeps his look fly, chill, and exquisite. He finds his fashion inspiration in himself and the environment around him. “I’m just a product of my environment,” he expressed. “Drip to me means looking presentable and feeling good in what you wear.”

As for fashion trends, the group agrees that tight jeans and overly cropped shirts need to go, while the formal and classic streetwear eras deserve a comeback. When asked what fashion items they can’t live without, each had a quick answer. “Oh, my shoes. I can’t live without my shoes,” said Teran. For Simmons, it’s all about accessories: “One fashion item I can’t live without is my jewelry.” Young added, “My shoes, my clothes, and my creativity–that’s what makes my outfits stand out.”

When imagining the one outfit they would wear for the rest of the semester, their answers showed just how different their styles are. Young went with baggy jeans, a cropped shirt, and an oversized jacket, while Simmons kept it classic with a Nike Tech Fit, Jordan 4s, and his chain. Teran chose gray sweats from Walmart, a black Goodfellow tee, a North Face puffer, and white Bottega Veneta shoes, topped off with gold chains and earrings.

As for fashion planning, they each have their own approach. Young says he just goes with the flow and buys whatever catches his eye. Simmons builds his outfit around his shoes, while Teran likes to plan. “If I don’t plan, I start overthinking and nothing feels right,” Teran admitted.

When it comes to SNU fashion, the group agrees: confidence is everything. “Just be yourself,” Simmons advised. “Experiment until you find what fits you.” When it comes to where they shop, all three agree that Instagram and TikTok play a huge role in discovering new brands and trends. “I like seeing how creative people get with their style,” Teran said. “I don’t want to wear what everyone else is wearing–I like being different.”

At the end of the day, their “drip” is more than just clothing–it’s expression, personality, and pride. As Young put it, “Drip means being comfortable, creative, and confident. It’s not just clothes. It’s who we are.” So whether it’s sneakers or soul, remember–your drip tells a story before you even say a word.
