Dropping Like It’s Hot: The Final Splash

Dropping Like It’s Hot: The Final Splash

The first all-class competition at SNU kicked off with a friendly-fire game of Wet Bandits, and let’s just say–people are dropping like it is hot.

Some students, however, dropped faster than others. Freshman Tajon Williams was eliminated within the first hour of the game going live. He was leaving a football Bible study when freshman Isaac Harris came up behind him to get the kill.

Getting [Williams] was really easy,” Harris explained. “Very gullible guy–when I was talking to him earlier that morning, he asked me if I knew my target, and I replied, ‘maybe’.

Sometimes, the ones you least expect are the ones who take you out. With a little help from one of Harris’s friends, the plan came together, and the elimination happened barely an hour after the targets were assigned.

Williams also shared how it felt to be the first one out. He shared that, “At first, not great and kind of embarrassing,” he admitted.

Even though Williams was the first casualty, the reward softened the blow–and made the elimination even sweeter for Harris.

The first day saw several more eliminations, including Karys-Faith Barreda taking out Karly Hietpas seconds after eliminating her own target. But her streak was short-lived.

As the Wet Bandits competition continued, the targets continued to drop, and paranoia skyrocketed. During this battle royale season, even your closest friends aren’t safe–because in this game, anything can happen with a little friendly fire. This past week, students gathered in fellowship to watch the Wet Bandits finale, their “ooohs” and “ahhhs”  mixed with cheers and boos as colored smoke filled the air while they waited for the elimination announcement.

Cooper McKee secured a spot in the finale with his defensive mindset and three-season kills. In the finale, he picked up two more but was eliminated at the last second.

After seeing his elimination confirmed by his smoke signal going off, McKee reflected, “Defeated, I’ve always been a competitive guy, and to know that I was that close made it even worse. I should have gotten the job done, but it just didn’t go my way.

In the end, Wet Bandits lived up to its name–unpredictable and fast-paced. What started with quick eliminations and surprise takedowns ended in a finale marked by suspense, strategy, and colorful smoke. For everyone who played, it was a reminder that at SNU, even a friendly game can turn into a battle of wit, patience, and timing.
