The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is more than a group; it is a community where sports and faith intersect. This new organization at SNU creates a space where student-athletes can form new friendships while also growing in their relationship with Christ.
FCA meetings typically include worship, prayer, and a testimony shared by a fellow athlete about how their faith has impacted their life or helped them grow closer to God. Afterwards, students can stay to enjoy snacks, spend time together, and play games.
In addition to regular meetings, FCA also hosts “mini meetings,” which include a short devotional followed by a fun group activity, like sand volleyball. These smaller gatherings provide athletes with an opportunity to relax, bond, and build community in a more casual setting.
Natalie Gowan shared, “I love seeing all the athletes on campus come together to glorify God and all that he does, and we get to really cherish the fact that we have the ability and skill that he gave us.”
FCA not only creates community, but it also helps athletes connect their faith with sports–reminding them that worship is not just for Sunday but should be part of everyday life. Grace Tomlinson explained, “From FCA, there are many things that I have learned that I would add to my daily routine, but to be specific, I plan on adding a weekly devotional to devote intentional time with the Lord and His word. Thus, this time will be centered around my sport, teammates, coaches, and opponents. I feel that this will strengthen my relationship with Christ and make me a better player.”
Her words highlight how FCA encourages athletes to grow spiritually and to set intentional time aside for God. That discipline not only strengthens faith but also translated into growth within their sport.
Joining FCA is more than just signing up for a club–it’s joining a supportive community that helps grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, and discover how sports and faith can work together to shape life both on and off the field. To get involved, follow their Instagram @snufca, where they post the location, time, and day of their meetings.
