Homecoming is a time when alumni and current students can celebrate their love for SNU. Throughout the years, SNU has hosted an event called Howdy Homecoming specifically designed for current students to get involved.
When describing Howdy Homecoming, University Chaplain for the School of Undergraduate Studies, Blair Spindle, Ed.D., says, “It’s a country dance party with a Fall theme. We have food, crafts, bonfires, and activities all wrapped around the Fall.” Eli Redinger, a SALT member and Student Lead for the Social Life team who helped plan this year’s Howdy Homecoming, adds, “Students can expect a fun night of community, dancing, and other fun activities.”
Howdy Homecoming will take place at Chester’s Party Barn, fitting the country dance theme. Students attending the event can dress in Western attire, enjoy dancing to the music, or opt to savor country-inspired food while chatting with fellow students. This year’s Howdy Homecoming may even bring back a mechanical bull, a top hit from last year.
Reflecting on his time at last year’s Howdy Homecoming, SNU student Darius Petties says, “I think it’s a great way for building community and friendship.” This sentiment echoes the very purpose of the event: fostering connection among students through fun and engaging activities.
For students who want to attend Howdy Homecoming or get involved in other homecoming events, Redinger advises, “[Students can buy] a homecoming package that will include a ticket to Howdy Homecoming.” The package also includes a homecoming t-shirt, beanie, bracelet, and two food vouchers for the Party on the Block Event and the football tailgate. The package is $15 with a Crimson Card and $25 without.
Howdy Homecoming will take place this Thursday, Nov. 7th, so make sure to get your Homecoming Package fast! Events like these are sure to make your college experience worthwhile. Spindle, Redinger, and all of the staff involved with organizing Howdy Homecoming are so excited to see students have fun together. Join us for Howdy Homecoming and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime!
