Starting school in a new town may be intimidating. Where do you get a haircut? What if you need to go to a doctor? Where are some places you can go shopping for clothes or groceries? Have no fear. Here is a quick guide to help you started and make Oklahoma feel more like home.
Need a haircut, but are not sure where to go? Head across the street to The Hair Boutique. The boutique offers haircuts for both men and women. Colors and waxes are also available for a decent price.
If you want a full salon experience, book an appointment with SNU’s own sophomore, Stormy Vaughn. An appointment at Loc Salon with Vaughn allows you to enjoy a shampoo, color treatment, cut, color and much more. Mention that you saw this article and receive 10% off your first visit.
It may not cross your mind while you are on campus, but your car requires attention too. There are maker-specific dealerships on Northwest Expressway that can tend to your car’s maintenance. If you are looking for something a little closer, Firestone Complete Auto Care also tends to it all. Oil changes, engine or mechanical issues and tire care are offered at each of these businesses.
Your health should always be at the top of your list. If you are far from home and away from your primary doctor it is not hard to feel conflicted. If you prefer to see a doctor off campus, Mercy’s Primary Care Clinic is highly recommended.
If you are having issues with your teeth, Dental Depot is here to help. There are three convenient locations not far from campus. Walk-ins are welcome and they are open on the weekends.
Groceries and everyday items are more than likely at the top of your list. For all of your everyday needs, both Walmart and Target are located on Northwest Expressway. For the college budget, groceries can be bought at either Buy for Less or Crest. Many drugstores, such as CVS or Walgreens, are also close by for health items or a quick grab.
If it is time for some new clothes, or just to get away from school, there are several shopping malls not too far from campus. The Outlet Shoppes are located on Council Road and Reno, and contain ever-changing popular and new stores. Penn Square Mall or Quail Springs Mall are both north of campus, and offer different store options as well.
As you explore the area outside of campus, have fun, but consider your safety as well. If you do leave always have a friend by your side.
