SNU Crimson Storm Track

SNU Crimson Storm Track

This Saturday, the Southern Nazarene University (SNU) track and field team will be traveling to Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla. to compete in a meet hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma. Events start at 11:00 a.m.

The Storm are looking to get off to a great start with this being the first meet since Christmas break. Head coach Billy Miller has some awesome things to say about the team. Coach Miller mentioned that the first meet after break helps to gather a better understanding of where each athlete is at. This helps so that throughout the season they can improve not only individually, but as a team. Having already been to the “Crimson & Gold” meet this year, held at Pitt State (PSU) in Pittsburg, Kansas, the team is looking to continue in their success this weekend.

Freshman Nieko Neives is very excited for this season and has some big goals for this year. Speaking with Neives he said this: “My goals for myself are to get a ring. Not only me, but our entire team wants one. We want to go win the National Championship. I can’t think of anything greater than having an entire team bought in on achieving one thing.”

When asked what his favorite thing about track was, Neives said, “My favorite part about track and this team is our goofy times, and our practices. Us being athletes, we have to be serious when it comes time to compete; however, behind the scenes we are all goofy with one another. We all know the time to joke around, but when it’s time, we lock in and compete.”

This team has been working incredibly hard over the course of this offseason, and they are ready to show out this weekend. This is only one of the many more opportunities that you’ll have to come watch our athletes in action! Following this meet, the Crimson Storm with be back in action in two weeks when the travel to Pitt State for the PSU Invitational. As for this weekend, we would like to wish all of our athletes and coaches the best of luck and hope for for a ton of success! We hope to see all of you there this weekend! #BoltsUp
