SNU School of Music’s Sounds of Christmas Concert

SNU School of Music’s Sounds of Christmas Concert

Do you hear what I hear? ‘Tis the season for the most wonderful time of the year. Christmas is right around the corner which means it is time for Christmas music. Luckily, SNU’s School of Music has you covered with the Sounds of Christmas Concert.

The Sounds of Christmas Concert is an annual concert held by the SNU School of Music. Both students and faculty work together to put on the show. Students will be singing and playing instruments for your listening pleasure. There will also be a guest artist, Dr. Mark Reighard, a beloved professor at SNU playing piano. Alayna Bryson, a junior vocal music education major, looks forward to this guest performance. She sings his praises, saying, “I am excited, especially with Dr. Mark Reighard being the guest artist. He is just really funny, is always incorporating something really goofy, and is always willing to connect with us. I am excited for him to be featured and honored in the concert. He is very appreciated within the music department.”

Gracee Rash, a sophomore vocal music education major, describes her enthusiasm for being a part of the upcoming concert. She states, “I am super excited. We love getting into the season, and it is right before December starts. It is a fun way to get the season started for everybody.” However, a show is not a show without refreshments. Beverages will be served, alongside the show-stopping favorite: cheesecake.

This event is staffed by students within the music department who are not performing. From serving refreshments to setting up and taking down the decorations, the staff and students work hard to create an enjoyable experience. Rash states, “Since we are the ones putting it on, we have certain jobs as well. We have waitresses, dishwashers, and other jobs like that for our guests.” She would like to make known the hard work of everyone who participates in making this concert possible. Rehearsing, practicing, and the set-up of the event take a lot of work, but the result is a wonderful experience.

The Sounds of Christmas Concert will take place November 27th and 28th at 7:00 pm. It will be located in the Bethany First Church of the Nazarene Atrium. Tickets can be purchased online at https://snu.booktix.net/ or at the Music Office. The show is stacked with talented artists who would love nothing more than to have you come and listen to their music.
