Sounds of Christmas Premiering Tonight

As we approach the end of the school year, what better way to welcome both December and the holiday season than by enjoying festivities hosted by our own hardworking students. Put on by SNU’s music department, “Sounds of Christmas” celebrates the upcoming holiday with student performances coupled with refreshments.

Sounds of Christmas is a yearly event put on by SNU, and this year will take place in Bethany First Church of the Nazarene’s Atrium on both November 29th and 30th. Beginning at 7pm on both evenings, the performance is a ticketed event. The cost for an adult ticket is $20, a senior ticket $15, and tickets for SNU faculty, staff, and students only $10.

“The evening is a concert including our School of Music ensembles performing traditional and modern Christmas music,” explained Dr. Bryan Powell, Chair of the School of Music. “Our guest Susan Powell, former Miss America and talented vocalist who has performed on stages worldwide, will join our students for several musical numbers.  Attendees will enjoy cheesecake and hot coffee or apple cider at intermission.  It is a wonderful and relaxed evening of music that showcases the School of Music.”

“I love performing in this concert with the entire School of Music,” said De’Angelo Janzen. Janzen is both a student at SNU and a trumpet player among the Sounds of Christmas ensemble. “It is an honor to join together with my classmates in this production that celebrates the birth of Christ.”

“This concert is a great way to start the holiday season and get you in the Christmas Spirit,” said Rhonda Spear, the Administrative Assistant of the School of Music.

So if you’re looking for a way to de-stress during this week before finals, perhaps consider supporting your fellow students and enjoying some holiday cheer at Sounds of Music.
