Jessica De La Cruz is a junior English major destined for greatness. She’s currently working on world domination plans with her associate, Amy Calfy. However, that has come to a temporary halt until she receives her bachelor’s degree. [/author]
The time has come to fill out scholarships and find money to pay for school. Actually, that time is all the time. Here at SNU there is a General and Department Scholarship application, which allows students to fill out one form for all the available scholarships. It saves time and relieves stress on students.
The application is available to students starting from Jan. 1 to March 5. There are two separate applications depending if one is a new student or returning student. Students are only eligible for this application if they are enrolled as traditional, meaning 12 hours or more, and attending a traditional program. These scholarships will count for the upcoming school year of 2016-2017.
The application is not a difficult task. Majority of the information needed are simple things such as your year, name, major and financial status. It doesn’t feel intrusive, nor is it as demanding as outside scholarships can be.
As Dianne Wade, a junior English major, said, “They make it easy and general. It gives you enough space to explain why the scholarship applies to you or the need of it, and to describe where you are at financially or in your life.”
The application can be easily found in the SNU scholarship website. One must be logged into their SNU gmail account as it will be submitted through google forms with your username attached to it.
This page not only provides the link for the application but provides information for other scholarships available to students if they meet the criteria. Browse around the page and look for anything that could help you. There are links to scholarships for different majors, honor students, minorities, first generation and athletes. Also, they provide samples and tips for scholarship essays.
Wade has felt an immense “ease of mind” through this application as it has helped her so much. She said, “That’s one more scholarship that will cover me and help me.”
The link to find the application is here, and the link for the outside scholarships can be found here. The deadline is fast approaching, so hurry and gets yours filled out today!
