Summer is only a few months away, and that means SIMS will be starting to fundraise for their upcoming trip. SIMS, or “SNU in Missions,” is SNU’s mission trip program. Last semester, SIMS announced the teams that will be going on various missions throughout the summer. The locations this year include trips to Arizona, Brazil, Ewsatini, the United Kingdom, and Northern Africa.
SIMS is a fantastic way for students at SNU to serve others and worship together in a place that is different from their normal lives. Hannah Lindsly, a junior nursing major on the team for Northern Africa, is excited to form new relationships and serve others through her time with SIMS. “I’m most excited for the relationships that will be formed within my team and with the people we get to meet along the way. The opportunity to get to pour into others and form those friendships is something I truly can’t wait for.”
Olivia Wilson, a junior multidisciplinary communication and leadership for nonprofit organizations and graphic design major, will be going to the United Kingdom in June to help renovate and serve in a local church in Manchester. Olivia believes SIMS is important because it helps students get a different perspective on the world. “We forget truly how blessed we are here at SNU and how well we are taken care of. SIMS gives students an opportunity to step out of the comfort of Bethany and go and be stretched. This stepping out of our boxes connects us to Jesus and to the world that the Lord created. We need help to get to our missions! Some ways that you can help are donating to our web link, contacting an individual student for their information, and most importantly by praying for our efforts in fundraising. The power of prayer is real, and as we embark on the journey of short-term missions. we will gladly accept any kind of prayers and well wishes!”
SIMS will be fundraising until the end of the semester, so there will be multiple opportunities to help! SIMS is fundraising in person by selling baked goods at basketball games and at the spring musical in March, but you can also donate online! Visit snu.edu and click on the give tab, then choose which trip to donate to. You can also help by praying for SIMS teams as well if donating is not feasible for you. All donations and prayers are greatly appreciated and are truly the reason SNU students are able to serve.
