Financial Aid Changes Due to New Database

Financial Aid Changes Due to New Database

Celeste Forrest, Staff Writer

Attention Everyone!

If you haven’t heard already, SNU will be converting to a brand new database. While the SNU staff members are very excited about this change, there are some important pieces of information that are necessary for you to know in order to complete your financial aid for the next semester. These are the steps every student needs to take for a smooth transition:

All students that have loans must complete a new Entrance Counseling. Go to www.studentloans.gov and complete your Entrance Counseling right away. Do not complete a new Master Proissory Note (MPN). The reason why you cannot do this is because financial aid will not be able to transmit your student loans to the Business Office unless the Entrance Counseling is completed.

When you view your Award Letter, go to portal.snu.edu and log in. This is very different compared to the traditional view at my.snu.edu. Once you are on portal, go to the right hand column, click WebAdvisor for Students, then click on financial aid and Financial Award Letter. There will be options to reject or accept your awards, or change the loan amounts. Award Letters for returning students will be processed starting June 1. Pay attention to your SNU e-mail to see if your Award Letter is ready to sign after you have completed your FAFSA. If you haven’t completed your FAFSA, do it now!  It is VERY important to get this done as soon as possible!

More information about the new database will be sent out soon, so keep checking your SNU e-mail frequently! Visit the Financial Aid Facebook page to find out even more information. If you have any questions about the new system, please call 405-491-6310 or e-mail the Financial Aid office at finaid@mail.snu.edu.

Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing you all again!
